Rage Building
Welcome to our stage of rage. A stage where you are welcome to express it, share it but also escape from it. Escape for a moment from reality. Run. Run. Run away. Run away from the single family house. This house… This fucking house. Stage of gendered division of domestic labour.
Dream for male paid labour. Prison for female unpaid labour. Stuck inside a prison of our own creation. Escape. The. Fucking. Single. Family. House. The anger grows. From the house inflates again. Feeding itself from everywhere. Economic inequality. Inequitable distribution of parental responsibilities. Inequalities in gender and parental roles. Domestic labour. Child care. High psychological stress. Frustrations. Anxiety. Depression. Lack of support. Socially structured inequality. Disadvantages. Social Pressure.
Inflated with Mother-Rage. Cry. Sweat. Dig. Women have plenty to be angry and fed-up about, but the notion of female anger has long been trivialised. An angry woman is made to seem unnatural and unladylike. Is it so hard for a woman to just smile and be pleasant and polite? A woman who dares to display anger or force is subject to be dismissed with the classic: “It is a woman’s job to overreact”.
Harpy. Witch. Shrew. Bitch. Yell. Scream. Shout. Anger in women is feared and denigrated. Fear of anger. Fear of our own anger. Anger to critique. Anger to express our Truth. Anger to defend ourselves. Anger is our very self. To suppress it is to suppress our deep self. The angry woman who wants something for herself is frightening. Untrue to her “proper” nature and role. Feel. Smell. Move.
