Water; A Journey II

What is desirable? Am I desirable? And who decides that?

In the Case Study "Geronthophilia" by Bruce LaBruce this question is touched and examined through water, as a connecting medium for intergenerational interactions and as a way to explore desirability. Of others, but especially of oneself. To maintain one‘s body one cares for oneself and explores one's desirability and needs.

This is a process. A process of preparation and comfort, of the body but especially of the mind. It's a journey. One explores new regions, takes turns and meets the unexpected.

This process is the story of the project at Bucheggplatz. The bath slowly and carefully builds up, from the busy, loud and dirty city around, until the core, the relaxing, intimate and safe inside. It starts with public services for the surrounding area: a cooling Infrastructure, a drinking fountain and a splash pool. It creates a deeper interaction with the program and oneself with a footbath and seating areas in a park that shields from the traffic and the everyday life. Finally it offers different programs of engagement with water, pools to float or to chat and private niches to withdraw.
