Bucheggplatz, an important infrastructural hub in Zurich, is defined by traffic, noise and constant movement. A square that functions as a circle: noise and movement emerge from the edges and spiral inward. People board trams, rush, depart. This setting led to a reflection: how can such a high-pulse intersection become a place where the ageing body is considered? What about the pleasure of moving and listening?

The project follows this rhythm: a space to move, rest and listen. A terraced hill and amphitheatre reduce noise, and a promenade ramp winds around the site to merge with the existing pedestrian bridge.

At the centre stands a new institution: a bar that opens to the square, generous changing rooms above that invite preparation to dance. Colourful capsules form the heart of the dance floor, offering private moments within the collective experience. As a counterpoint to the vibrant club interior, a rooftop terrace offers calmer moments.

Three translucent capsules form the structural core, containing circulation and infrastructure, while also providing natural ventilation. The wooden floor, steel pillars, and double-skin façade create acoustic and climatic protection.

In tune with the speed of Bucheggplatz, the building actively brings bodies into motion. The inclusive and engaging design of the building makes music and movement that support both physical and mental well-being.
